Fusion 4-Axis Post Processor for Rotary Tables and Indexers
Fusion posts for machines with a 4th axis: A or B rotary tables, trunnion indexers and horizontal machining centres. Indexed and simultaneous 4-axis output with correct direction, clamping, unwinding and feedrates.
Getting the rotary axis right
Adding a 4th axis opens up multi-sided parts, shafts, cams and wrapped features, but it also introduces new post processing questions. Which axis direction is positive on your table? Should the post take the shortest path or keep rotating? When does the table need to unwind to avoid cable or range limits? Are clamp and unclamp codes required for indexed cuts? And how should feedrates be output when the rotary axis moves at the same time as the linear axes?
ENGIMANDI builds Fusion 4-axis posts with a correct machine configuration for your A or B axis, including direction, range, reset behaviour and preferences. We handle indexed positioning with clamping, simultaneous 4-axis motion with inverse time or degrees-per-minute feed, rotary wrapping and safe unwinding. The same configuration drives Fusion's simulation, so what you see is what the machine does.

4-axis post questions
What is the difference between indexed and simultaneous 4-axis?
Indexed 4-axis rotates the part, then cuts with 3 axes. Simultaneous 4-axis moves the rotary axis while cutting. The post must handle both correctly.
Why does our rotary spin the long way?
Usually the axis direction, range or modulo settings in the post or machine configuration do not match the machine. We correct them.
Should we use inverse time feed?
For simultaneous moves on most controllers, inverse time gives the most predictable feed. We follow your controller's capabilities.
Can a 4th axis be added to our existing 3-axis post?
Yes. That is a common post modification.
Do you support tilted rotary tables?
Yes. Tables mounted on non-standard axes are defined in the machine configuration.
