AutoCAD to PLM/PDM Integration for Controlled Engineering Data

Link AutoCAD with Autodesk Vault, PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, Aras or your document management system, so drawings, title blocks, revisions and approvals stay consistent and traceable.

One source of truth for every drawing

When drawings live in shared folders, it is hard to know which revision is current, who approved it and whether the title block matches the system record. A PDM or PLM system solves that only if AutoCAD is properly connected, with metadata, title blocks and file states kept in sync automatically.

ENGIMANDI builds AutoCAD integrations with Autodesk Vault and other PDM and PLM platforms. We map title block attributes to system properties, automate check-in and revision updates, generate PDF or DWF viewables on release, and migrate legacy drawing archives with their metadata. For systems without an out-of-the-box AutoCAD connector, we build one using the platform's API.

Capabilities

AutoCAD PLM/PDM integration features

Controlled drawings from creation to release.

Property Sync

Title block attributes and PDM or PLM properties kept identical in both directions.

Revision Workflow

Revision letters, dates and approvers updated automatically as files move through lifecycle states.

Release Outputs

PDF, DWF or DXF created automatically on release and attached to the item or document.

Reference Management

Xrefs, images and sheet sets tracked so released packages are always complete.

Data Migration

Folders of legacy drawings loaded into PDM with numbers, titles and revisions read from title blocks.

Custom Connectors

AutoCAD add-ins that talk to PLM platforms through REST or SOAP APIs where no connector exists.

FAQ

AutoCAD PLM/PDM questions

Does Vault already work with AutoCAD?

Yes. Vault includes an AutoCAD add-in. We configure title block mapping, lifecycles and automation, and extend it where standard features are not enough.

Can you integrate AutoCAD with Windchill or Teamcenter?

Yes, using the platform's connectors or APIs. We also handle metadata mapping and release outputs.

How do you migrate old drawings?

We scan folders, read title block data, clean duplicates and load files with metadata and revision history where available.

Will drafters need to change how they work?

Only slightly. Most integrations work from inside AutoCAD with a few extra commands for check-in and lookups.

Can PDM data flow on to ERP?

Yes. See our Vault to ERP integration service.
