AutoCAD Data Extraction & Integration: Turn DWG Files into Usable Data
Your drawings already contain tags, quantities, part numbers and properties. We extract that data reliably and connect it to Excel, databases, dashboards and business systems, so nobody has to count or retype it again.
Engineering data trapped inside drawings
AutoCAD's built-in Data Extraction wizard is useful for simple counts, but real projects need more: data from hundreds of drawings, consistent columns, validation of missing values, links between drawings and a live connection to other systems. Manual counting and copying from drawings is slow and one of the most common sources of costly errors.
ENGIMANDI builds extraction tools that read block attributes, dynamic block properties, drawing properties, text, polyline lengths and areas, extended data (xdata) and extended records (xrecords). Data is cleaned, validated and written to Excel, SQL Server, a REST API or a reporting dashboard. Where needed, the integration is two-way, so values changed in a database can be pushed back into drawings.
See CAD data extraction for engineering reports and CAD database integration.

What we extract and connect
Structured data from any DWG content.
Tags & Attributes
Equipment tags, part numbers and descriptions from block attributes across every layout.
Quantities
Block counts, cable and pipe lengths, room areas and material quantities by layer or type.
Hidden Data
Xdata, xrecords and dictionaries used by in-house or third-party applications.
Archive Scans
Index drawing numbers, titles and revisions across an entire project or archive.
Two-Way Integration
Update attributes and title blocks in drawings from values held in a database.
Reports & Dashboards
Excel reports, Power BI datasets or web dashboards fed directly from drawing data.
Extraction stack
Desktop, headless and cloud extraction.
Typical projects
- Instrument and equipment index from P&ID drawings
- Cable schedule from electrical layout drawings
- Door, window and room schedules from floor plans
- Drawing register built from 10,000 title blocks
- Material quantities for estimating and purchasing
- Asset data handover to a facility management system

Data extraction questions
Why not use AutoCAD's Data Extraction wizard?
The wizard is fine for simple one-off tables. Custom tools handle many drawings, complex rules, validation and direct links to databases or ERP without manual steps.
Can data be extracted without AutoCAD installed?
Yes, using RealDWG-based tools or Autodesk Platform Services, depending on your licensing and volume.
What if our drawings are inconsistent?
We add rules to handle common variations and produce an exceptions report so inconsistent drawings can be fixed.
Can you push data back into drawings?
Yes. We build two-way integrations that update attributes and title blocks from a database or spreadsheet.
Which systems can receive the data?
Excel, SQL databases, ERP, PLM, document management systems, Power BI or any system with an API.
