GPP procedures
GPP posts are built from procedures called for each event: start of program, tool change, rapid move, linear move, arc, drilling cycle and end of program.
@start_of_file
{'%'}
{nb, 'O', program_number}
endp
@change_tool
{nb, 'T', tool_number, ' M6'}
endp
@line
{nb, 'G1 ', [xpos], [ypos], [zpos], [feed]}
endp
This excerpt shows the idea; real SolidCAM posts use a richer set of procedures, formats and system variables.
iMachining considerations
iMachining generates long, smooth, variable-feed toolpaths. The post should enable the controller's high-speed mode and output feedrates cleanly so the machine can follow the constantly changing feed accurately.
Typical customisations
- Headers with part, material and tool list.
- Machine-specific M-codes and tool change sequence.
- Work offsets and multi-setup output.
- Probing and tool measurement macros.
- Subprogram output for repeated patterns.
Simulation
With an accurate VMID, SolidCAM's machine simulation shows the full machine, fixtures and tool motion. Matching the VMID to the post configuration keeps simulation and G-code in agreement.
A SolidCAM post and its machine files must be developed as a pair.
