Kinematic parameters
| Parameter | Example |
|---|---|
| Axis order (primary / secondary) | A tilts, C rotates on A (trunnion) |
| Axis location | Table or head |
| Rotation vectors | A about [1,0,0], C about [0,0,1] |
| Positive direction | Right-hand rule, or reversed |
| Rotary centre / pivot offsets | A axis centre at Y0 Z-150 from table surface |
| Travel limits | A -120/+30, C continuous |
| Preferred solution | Negative A (tilt towards operator) |
| Resolution / output format | 0.001° |
Example configuration (conceptual)
machine: trunnion A/C
A: table, axis [1,0,0], limits [-120, 30], prefer negative
C: table (on A), axis [0,0,1], continuous, rollover on
pivot: A centre Y=0.000 Z=-150.000 (from C table surface)
tcp: controller G43.4 available
tilted plane: G68.2 available
Where the configuration lives
- Post: rotary logic and output decisions.
- CAM machine model: simulation and collision checking.
- Controller: kinematic parameters used by TCP and tilted plane.
All three must agree. A mismatch between controller and post data is a common cause of 5-axis errors.
Verifying on the machine
- Jog each rotary axis in the positive direction and compare with the post.
- Check TCP: rotate axes with an indicator on a reference sphere or pin.
- Machine a simple test feature at several tilt angles and measure.
Kinematics configuration is only a few numbers, but every 5-axis move depends on them.
