Revit Family Creation Automation for BIM Content at Scale

Hundreds of products, thousands of sizes, one consistent standard. We automate Revit family creation and maintenance so manufacturers and BIM teams can produce accurate, lightweight families from catalogue data.

Why build families by hand when the data already exists?

Product manufacturers need Revit families for every product line so architects and engineers can specify them. BIM teams need office families that follow strict naming, parameter and graphics standards. Building and updating these by hand in the Family Editor is slow, and inconsistencies creep in with every new family.

ENGIMANDI automates family work with the Revit API. We generate families from family templates, create reference planes, parameters, formulas and types from Excel or product databases, load type catalogues, add shared parameters and manufacturer data, and batch-update existing libraries when standards change. Where geometry varies widely, we build a robust parametric master family and generate types from data instead of separate families.

FAQ

Revit family questions

Can families be generated from STEP or CAD files?

Yes, with care. Heavy geometry is simplified or replaced with parametric geometry so families stay lightweight in project models.

One family with many types or many families?

Where geometry follows the same rules, one parametric family with many types is best. Very different products need separate families.

Can you update families already used in projects?

We update library families. Projects can then reload them, and we can automate reloading where appropriate.

Which Revit versions can families target?

Families are saved in the oldest Revit version you need to support, since Revit families cannot be saved back to older versions.

Do you create families manually too?

Yes. Complex or unique families are modelled by our BIM team where automation is not practical.
