Fusion Sub-Spindle Post Processor

A sub-spindle lets a lathe finish both ends of a part in one cycle. We build Fusion posts that handle part transfer, spindle synchronisation, cut-off, back working, bar pulling and ejection, with correct coordinates and codes for your machine.

Done-in-one needs a careful post

On a twin-spindle lathe, the main spindle machines the first end, the sub-spindle moves in and grips the part, both spindles synchronise, the part is cut off, and the sub-spindle retracts to machine the back end. Each step needs builder-specific codes: spindle sync, chuck clamp and unclamp, sub-spindle positioning, torque skip or positive stop, and air or coolant for chip clearing. Back working also needs mirrored Z coordinates and the right spindle selection.

ENGIMANDI builds Fusion sub-spindle posts that follow your machine's sequence. We use Fusion's part transfer, cut-off and sub-spindle operations, output synchronisation and transfer codes, handle Z direction and work offsets for the sub-spindle, support bar pull and ejection, and simulate the whole process in Fusion before trials.

FAQ

Sub-spindle questions

Does Fusion support sub-spindle work?

Yes, with part transfer, cut-off and sub-spindle operations. The post turns them into your machine's codes.

Why is back working tricky?

The Z direction and offsets change on the sub-spindle. The post must handle this correctly.

What about machines with two turrets?

See multi-channel posts.

Can the post do bar pulling?

Yes, where your machine supports it.

Do you support Swiss-type sub-spindles?

Yes, see Swiss-type posts.
