Fusion Multi-Axis Post Processor for Complex Machines

Beyond standard 4 and 5-axis: machines with extra linear axes, W or U axes, secondary rotaries, gantries, robots and redundant axes. We build Fusion multi-axis posts that decide which axes move, keep them within limits and simulate them correctly.

When the machine has more axes than the toolpath

Fusion calculates multi-axis toolpaths as tool positions and orientations. A standard 5-axis machine has exactly one way (or a small number of ways) to reach each position. More complex machines have extra freedom: a W-axis quill alongside Z, a U-axis facing head, a secondary rotary table on a 5-axis machine, a gantry with parallel axes, or a robot arm with six joints. The post must decide how to distribute motion across those axes.

ENGIMANDI builds Fusion posts for these machines. We model the full kinematic chain in the machine configuration, define rules for redundant axes (for example, lock W and move Z, or use W for drilling only), manage secondary rotaries and parallel axes, and verify everything in Fusion's machine simulation. For robots, we advise on Fusion's robotic workflows and build posts for your robot controller where appropriate.

FAQ

Multi-axis post questions

How does the post choose between Z and W?

We define rules with you, such as using W for drilling and Z for positioning, or locking one axis during certain operations.

Can Fusion simulate these machines?

Yes, with a machine model that includes all axes and components.

Do you support robots?

Fusion offers robotic workflows. We advise on them and build or adapt posts for robot controllers where suitable.

What if our machine is one of a kind?

We build custom posts from the machine's documentation.

How long do these posts take?

It depends on complexity; we give a clear estimate after reviewing the machine.
