AutoCAD LISP Automation Development with AutoLISP and Visual LISP

Fast, practical AutoLISP routines that take the repetition out of drafting: numbering, labelling, block updates, layer clean-up and drawing checks, delivered in days rather than weeks.

Small routines, big time savings

AutoLISP has been part of AutoCAD for decades, and it is still the quickest way to automate everyday drafting tasks. A well-written routine can turn a ten-minute manual job into a single command, and because LISP loads directly in AutoCAD, there is nothing to compile or install beyond a startup file.

ENGIMANDI writes clean, commented AutoLISP and Visual LISP code with proper error handling, so a failed routine never leaves your drawing with the wrong layer, OSNAP settings or system variables. We also tidy up inherited LISP libraries, remove conflicts between routines and document what each command does. When a requirement grows beyond LISP, we plan a smooth move to a .NET plugin.

Since AutoCAD LT 2024, LT also runs AutoLISP, although some functions such as ActiveX (vla-/vlax-) calls and certain external file operations are not available in LT. We confirm which product your team uses before we start. See practical AutoLISP automation use cases.

Global attribute edits, block replacement, rotation fixes and attribute export to CSV.

Layer & Standards

Move objects to standard layers, set colours and linetypes, and purge unused content.

Measurement & Take-off

Sum lengths, areas and counts by layer or block and write results to tables or files.

Drawing Helpers

FAQ

AutoCAD LISP questions

Is AutoLISP still supported by Autodesk?

Yes. AutoLISP is supported in current AutoCAD releases and, since 2024, in AutoCAD LT with some limitations.

When should we use .NET instead of LISP?

Choose .NET when you need rich user interfaces, database or web connections, high performance on large drawings or tighter protection of your code.

Can you fix LISP routines written by someone else?

Yes. We debug, clean up and extend existing routines, even when the original author is no longer available.

How are routines loaded for the whole team?

We set up loading through acaddoc.lsp, the Startup Suite or a CUIx menu so every user gets the commands automatically.

How quickly can a routine be delivered?

Simple routines are often ready within a few days. We confirm the timeline after seeing your sample drawing.
